Over the past few weeks/months I have come across a few really ace web sites and programs that I have been extremely pleased with using so I thought I’d make a fun list about it.
With the introduction of the desktop player, Finetune has become even more ace. Finetune allows you to create playlists from its enormous catalogue of tracks as well as listen to other people’s playlists and playlists with certain tags such as “electronica”. It’s a great way to find new bands based on your current listening habits. Not quite as big as the mighty Last.FM, but I’ve enjoyed using it far more than Last.FM of late.

I didn’t think I’d ever abandon Dreamweaver but here I am, in love with Topstyle. The speed of TopStyle is just fantastic and allows you to produce beautifully semantic XHTML and CSS in no time at all! Of course, Dreamweaver is still needed now and again, but for the best part, TopStyle gives you a quick and intuitive coding environment. Furthermore, it’s toolbar customisation is second to none; you can have it display exactly how you want it.

While I’m not usually the type to bother with these sort of preview-based video download services, I’ve found Vuze a real joy to use. I’ve downloaded countless trailers and other videos in fantastic HD Quality. It’s something fun to do on a boring day. Furthermore, it’s got Azureus torrent client built in which I have switched to from uTorrent since uTorrent refuses to stop leeching my connection.

The new YouTube-esque service from the clever folks at DivX. For me, this is easily the best video sharing site available at the moment because it allows you to watch videos at really high quality level – there is no or very little toning down of quality at Stag6. Videos look beautiful and you can even download them in DivX format. Lost and other programs are getting uploaded here as well, so you can watch your favourite programs without the poor quality you get with other hosts. Sure, it does take longer to buffer, but it when it looks this good, who cares?

Okay, a bit of an odd one, but the new version of Word is really quite impressive. The new Quick Styles allow you to make your documents look beautiful in just a couple of clicks and the new interface is ten times easier to get around and find what it is you need. If you were holding back upgrading your copy of Office, I’d say now is the time. The new version is a true improvement and one worthy of an upgrade. Dare I say it… Well done Microsoft!

I have been moaning about how slow YouTube was on my computer and this really clears up the problem and makes your videos stream far more quickly. Just be aware that when you install, it does try to install the Ask.com toolbar, so be sure to check what you’re agreeing to when you hit “Next”.
Speedbit Video Accelerator
Seeing as PeekVid is updated so little these days, I went on a quest to find a better site that algamated all the online video content. What I found was TV Links. Whatever it is you need, TV Programs, films, cartoons; it’s all here. Fantastic!

Despite being put off by their use of a “Z” in their name, torrentz is my favourite place to get my torrents. It crawls loads of torrent sites to give you the most conclusive results I’ve seen to date.

Thanks for that Torrents site – I am a member at Demonoid , but this site really helps. As about the Microsoft Word 2007 – there are some nice portable versions out there – I am using such and like it a lot. And Vuze – didn`t even know about it – will check it out.
